International Dance Day
We will be supporting the children to listen to music, finding different ways to move and dance to different types of music.
We will look at Scottish, American Hip Hop, Irish, Ballet, Flamenco, World wide classical Ballroom, and Bollywood dancing to name a few.

Wear it Green Week
This year the Mental Health Awareness Week takes the theme of 'Movement: Moving more for our mental health'.
Movement is very important for our mental health. But so many people struggle to move enough, this is because of many reasons.
During this week, we will be encouraging the children to come in wearing green to raise funds for the Mental Health Foundation, and also participate in more movement activities. We will be practicing:
Walk to School Week
We will be encouraging the children to take part in our walk to school week.
Children who can demonstrate they have walked to nursery will receive a certificate.
It's important we encourage children to choose healthy habits that can last them a lifetime.

Celebrating Vesak
Vesak (said Vee-sak) is the most important day in the Buddhist calendar.
It is the holiday that celebrates the birth of Buddha.
The children will be learning about this special holiday celebration and which children celebrate this festival at home.
We will be looking at how the children around the world celebrate with their families.
Healthy Eating Week
We will be helping the children understand the importance of staying healthy. This will include looking at different foods, what is good for them and what foods are 'treats'. We will encourage children to eat at least 5 fruit or vegetables a day, your support will be greatly appreciated!
A certificate will be given to those who can tick off their 5 a day.
St George's Day
St George's Day is celebrated on 23 April each year.
It is a day when people celebrate the Christian Saint George, who is also the patron saint of England.
Feasts and parties are held in celebration, and some people still call it the Feast of Saint George.
Children will be learning about the story of St George and creating their very own dragons!
The first day of Passover
Children will be introduced to the story of Moses and the meaning of Passover.
Learning about the 10 commandments and understanding that we all have rules that we have to live by, even in nursery!
We use kind hands, walking feet and use kind words to talk to our friends.
Rule of law and mutual respect and tolerance is important to our daily lives.
Eid al Fitr
Eid al Fitr festival marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting when Muslims fast from dawn to dusk each day. It is the first time Muslims can eat during daylight hours after the fasting during Ramadan.
The translation of Eid al Fitr from Arabic sums up the holiday as it means 'Festival of break the fast'.
Eid is a great opportunity to encourage children to be grateful, think of others and learn to share. We will be having fun with lots of games with the children, looking at turn taking and how others feel.
Eid crafts will be incorporated into children's activities.
Easter bank holiday weekend
The nursery will be closed over the bank holiday weekend.

We are encouraging all children to have a go at creating their own Easter hat, crown or bonnet. There will be a prize for the best child creation.
A spa day for two worth almost £300!
All mums and dads need spoiling from time to time, so if you want to get involved, we are also having an adults competition too, all entries will be posted on our Facebook page on Wednesday 27 March at 14:00 the hat, crown or bonnet with the most likes by 10:00 am on Tuesday 2 April will be the winner!

Red Nose Day
We will be encouraging the children to wear red, wear their noses, and make a small donation of £1.00 each to raise money for comic relief.
British Science Week
The children will spent the week, they will be given the opportunity to get messy and 'stuck in' with various science activities, from exploding fizzy drinks, planting, colour change and predicting what will happen next.

Wessex Water Educational Visit
Meghan from Wessex Water joined us for a morning, talking with the children about where water comes from, how can we recycle water, who needs water and why.
With a few experiments the children had a fantastic morning.
Random acts of kindness day
Children will be encouraged to have understanding of being kind to each other, carrying out acts of kindness to those around them, and discussing how it feels when people are kind to each other.

We will be continuing to support children's love of stories - sharing their favourites and bringing them to life.
Children are welcome to bring in their favourite stories to share with their peers.
Parents Evening
Parents are welcome to meet with their child's key worker to discuss their child's learning and development.

Church Christmas Carols
Our pre-school aged children in Elder Elephants, are practicing their singing skills in preparation of their performance for their parents, extended family and friends on this magical evening.
We will be arriving at All Saints' Church at 17:45 ready to start their performance at 18:00.
It is anticipated that the performance will last approximately 30 minutes.
Christmas Story Night
We invite children to join us in their PJ's ready for bed, with their parents, for a warm glass of milk and a cookie to listen to some Christmas bedtime stories and posting off their Christmas wishes to Father Christmas.
Parents haven't been forgotten, you are welcome to have a cup of mulled wine a mince pie or cookie if you prefer.

We will be having our second Christmas dinner of the festive season with the children. Followed by a few party games in the afternoon with all children who usually attend Thursdays.

Children who normally attend nursery on Mondays will automatically watch the show, and those not booked to attend, can obtain a ticket from Stacy in the office, to come with their parents, join in the fun and watch The Show!

Children and staff will be invited to wear their Christmas jumpers and raise money for Save the Children.
